One Flaw in Women
The following was sent ot me by one of our precious volunteers who said it reminded her of Treasure House Fashions. This message certainly is at the heart of our mission and is a word of affirmation and encouragement to women everywhere. One Flaw In Women
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
But they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
And laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don’t take ‘no’ for an answer
When they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.

And cheer when their friends get awards.

A birth or a wedding.

To show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what

They give moral support to their
Family and friends.
Women have vital things to say
And everything to give.

Fashion Show, my thoughts…
Sometimes you start out with one thing and it turns into something much greater than it’s original intent. For me, that’s what happened yesterday at the 6th annual fashion show by Treasure House Fashions. Each year everyday women are chosen to model some of the gently worn clothing that comes from the little boutique that is located in the north hills of Pittsburgh. Some of the models come from the organizations that receive gift certificates from Treasure House. The gift certificates are given to their clients who are particurlary women in need and/or crisis. Those clients can then come to Treasure House and shop for the clothing that they need with the certificates. Some of the models are volunteers at the organization, and some are women who just love to come there and shop. Regardless of where they are from, our models are generally enriched by participating in the show.
Yesterday, however, something else happened. We, the audience, were enriched by the models. I will be sharing some pictures with you in the next few days, but the pictures won’t tell the story. It takes some courage to get up and model, but it takes even more courage to be 70 something and planning a trip to go white water rafting with your grandchildren, especially when you have just recovered from knee surgery. But that’s not even the story of this lady. When you see her, you see the courage and strength in her face and in her smile. That was just one moment of inspiration. Another was with a young woman who has recently moved here from India. She came to this country, leaving family, culture, and everthing she has known to start a new life with her husband. She is volunteering at Treasure House while she looks for employment in this new world of hers. Her spirit of enthusium and courage was so bright, it would be hard to not be inspired by it.
Well, that’s all for now, other than to say that each and every one of us can be an inspiration to someone else with just a little courage to let our beauty shine through.
